"Survival Stories" From pandemic narratives to stories of overcoming family trauma, creative non-fiction offers writers a nuanced way to tell detailed accounts of survival. Jenna Butler looks at narratives of surviving and thriving in connection with the land through her Governor General’s shortlisted book Revery: A Year of Bees.

JENNA BUTLER is an author and scholar whose research into endangered environments has taken her from America’s Deep South to Ireland’s Ring of Kerry, and from Tenerife to the Arctic Circle, exploring the ways in which we navigate the landscapes we call home. She is the author of three critically acclaimed books of poetry, an award-winning collection of ecological essays and an environmental travelogue. Her essay collection Revery: A Year of Bees(Wolsak and Wynn, 2020) was a finalist for the 2021 Governor General's Literary Award for Non-fiction.
